A GUEST LECTURE on ‘Modern Management-A Holistic Approach’ by Mr S. K. Sharma, Senior Training Head (Retired), ONGC
On 3rd of March, 2019, Vidya School of Business organized a guest lecture on Modern Management- A holistic Approach. Lecture was conducted by Mr Surendra Kumar Sharma who served as Head –Management Development Group, ONGC. He started the lecture by talking about the lessons exhibited by Lord Rama in Ramayana and also Lord Krishna in Bhagwad Gita. He explained management in simple terms mean achieving the desired goal by act of bringing people together and getting work done. He further acclaimed when these lessons are applied properly will lead to success of all types of organizations in today’s highly dynamic business environment.. Throughout his lecture he linked the verses laid in ancient scriptures of Ramayana and Bhagwad Gita with today’s management style, for e.g. time leadership, communication power, team work and Innovation etc.
The lecture was not only interactive but also useful for the students who are going to be future managers in various reputed organizations.
Guest Lecture on INDUSTRIAL RELATIONS & LABOUR LAWS by Dr Ajay Kumar Tyagi, Professor, Doon Business School
A Guest Lecture on “Industrial Relations and Labour Laws” was held on November 26, 2018. Dr Ajay Kumar Tyagi, Professor, Doon Business School graced the session as guest speaker for the day. MBA students from both the batches 2017-19 and 2018-20 marked their presence to gain knowledgeable insights through this informative session.
The entire session revolved around the concept of, how to put theoretical abstractions of Labour Laws into practices in Real life Corporate Scenarios. Furthermore, Dr Tyagi narrated the procedure of SOP filing under Labour Laws and Do’s as well as Don’ts of legal documents formation. However, he firmly emphasized on ‘Mitigation of Litigation’, specifying in words that “Litigation is a speculation without getting the destination”.
Guest Lecture on Theme Centered Interaction by Ulrike B Meyer
A guest lecture was organized by VIDYA School of Business on 16th of October 2018. The topic of the lecture was Theme Centered Interaction model of leadership which was given by Ulrike B Meyer from Tubingen, Germany. Ulrike B Meyer is associated with Tata Institute of Social Sciences and has been a consultant from long time.
During the lecture students participated in an activity on TCI where she asked students to make teams and share past team experiences amongst themselves, discuss the learning and the distractions faced while working in teams. Students thoroughly enjoyed Ulrike’s lecture and learnt the valuable lessons on leadership.
Guest Lecture by ICICI Bank
A Guest lecture was conducted by the team of ICICI bank for Management students regarding the ‘Upcoming Changes and Trends in the Banking Sector in India’ on 29th August, 2018. The team threw light on bank’s expectations in Indian Banking System from the management professionals. They also discussed the essential traits required for banking professionals.
‘Case Analysis in Management’ by Prof Vinay Anand
A Guest session was conducted by Prof. Vinay Anand on ‘Case Analysis in Management’ on 17th August, 2018 during the orientation week. He shared insights on the know-hows of a CASE ANALYSIS and how to conduct a full-fledged study on it. It was an enriching Research Class and the students new to the management programme developed a proper foundation on this new area of study.
‘Emerging Trends in Industry’ by Mr. Devendra Kumar Sharma
A Guest session on ‘Emerging Trends in Industry’ was conducted by Mr. Devendra Kumar Sharma during the Orientation Week for newly enrolled Management Students on 14th August, 2018. The speaker is a dynamic and bright alumnus of our prestigious institution. He acquainted the students regarding VAS: VIDYA Alumni Society. Miss Sameeksha Jain and Mr Shubham Sharma, proud alumni of VSB, were the co-speakers along with Mr. Devendra Sharma and provided in-depth information about the VIDYA Alumni Society and its functioning.

Guest Lecture on Corporate Social Responsibility
Vidya School of Management organized a guest lecture on ‘Corporate Social Responsibility & its impact on the life of a common man and the development of the nation” by Prof. (Dr.) Yash Pal Singh, Director, Somany (P.G.) Institute of Technology & Management, Haryana held on November 8, 2019. The session began with a discussion on the difference and relationship between Corporate Social Responsibility and sustainability.
Few common misconceptions about Corporate Social Responsibility were clarified. He stressed that companies need to rise above the traditional business model and integrate Corporate Social Responsibility with the business model. Today, Corporate Social Responsibility and sustainability are complementary to each other and cited examples of organizations like Parle, ITC etc.
